Home Sales Figures:

Home sales in South Central Kansas fell by 6.2% in March compared to the prior year. Sales in March 2022 totaled 873 units, down from 931 in 2021.

Among existing homes, 781 units sold in March, a decrease of 6.1% from 832 units that sold in 2021. The average sale price of existing homes was $209,793. This represents an increase of 11.2% from the March 2021 average price of $188,653.

For new construction, 92 sales occurred in March, down from 99 units the prior year, a decrease of 7.1%. The average sale price of new homes in March was $383,598, up 17.9% from the same period last year.

A total of 1,017 contracts for sale were written in March 2022, down from 1,124 in March 2021. This is a decrease of 9.5%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that are set to close in the near future.

The inventory of active listings in South Central Kansas stood at 627 units at the end of March, which is down from 660 homes that were on the market at the end of March last year. At the current rate of sales, this figure represents 0.6 months’ supply of homes on the market.
