Home Sales Figures:

Home sales in South Central Kansas fell by 5.5% in April compared to the prior year. Sales in April 2022 totaled 958 units, down from 1,014 in 2021.

Among existing homes, 875 units sold in April, a decrease of 4.9% from 920 units that sold in 2021. The average sale price of existing homes was $213,798. This represents an increase of 7.6% from the April 2021 average price of $198,702.

For new construction, 83 sales occurred in April, down from 94 units the prior year, a decrease of 11.7%. The average sale price of new homes in April was $394,579, up 19.1% from the same period last year. A total of 1,030 contracts for sale were written in April 2022, down from 1,176 in April 2021. This is a decrease of 12.4%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that are set to close in the near future.

The inventory of active listings in South Central Kansas stood at 633 units at the end of April, which is down from 710 homes that were on the market at the end of April last year. At the current rate of sales, this figure represents 0.6 months’ supply of homes on the market.
